My son is a gamer, when he was here at Xmas he bought Half Life 2 and played
it on my 9.2 box using Cedega from Transgaming, which is a commercial version
of Wine optimised for Widows games. Details here www.transgaming.com

It costs GPP 8.00 for three months subscription. I have a GeForce FX 8200, he
was quite happy with the performance.
