Hi Klaus, I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to computers generally and linux specifically - but on your 7 CDs you got a fantastic operating system and about half a million ;) packages including office suites and loads of other stuff - seems like a good deal to me I didn't think xine was on the Suse CDs (not 7.3 anyway, or else I am dumber thsn I realised) - It took me about 20 minutes to download xine on a 56k modem - and I managed to compile it and run it first time (using info from suse and others) - and this group (maintained by Suse) helped me understand how to get the sound working (thanks people) - GNU/linux/open source is a self/mutual help thing giving you control over what you run on your computer - all seems like a good thing to be part of, especially as I am a taker rather than a giver (no-one would want any of my code) Gerry PS to everyone else - if anyone could please help understand how to get a simple sequence looping on Jazz++ (say 4 chords, 1 to a bar) I'd be unbelievably grateful On Sunday 03 February 2002 1:08 pm, you wrote:
Hello Just a question! Can anybody explain to me why I cant play .avi+.divx videos when I install xine from the suse cd? When I use downloaded rpms (other source) and install xine with those it plays anything you throw at it. What exactly would be the reason I payed for 7cds if I have to download the program from a third source to get it to work?
