Oh, das ist wohl mein Fehler.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich das gerade nicht unter Suse sondern unter 
Fedora probiert habe. Dort ist ein sox 12.17.5 installiert, was dieses 
Feature nicht hat. Das aktuelle sox 12.17.9 funktioniert jedoch so wie 
von Dir beschrieben. 

Damit sollte ich das unter Suse hinbekommen und habe mein Problem 
gelöst!
