mplayer spielt keine .wmv's ab

Hallo Liste,
ich hab SuSE 8.1 und den mitgelieferten mplayer. Er weigert sich jedoch
hartnäckig, wmv Dateien abzuspielen. Es kommt immer die gleiche Meldung:

=== If this file is an AVI, ASF or MPEG stream, please contact the author! ===
Ich hab jetzt schon das RPM win32-codecs-0.60-1.i386.rpm nachinstalliert, hat
aber nichts gebracht.
Was nun?
