Hi Sven,
My fault. I mixed it up.
It is. Although I haven't boot Vista for a couple of month. Last time my kids
wanted to watch a DVD which was copy protected. No chance on linux, but the
MediaPlayer worked fine. :(
I'm using Arconis True Image in my Windows environment. Therefor I used it also
for shrinking the Windows partition. So I can't tell you, if OpenSuse is
trustworthy. But anyway: Making an image of your disk is always a good idea
before you try something.
I don't know if openSuse is working fine on your Sony VGN_NR21M. Have a look at
http://tuxmobil.org/sony.html or http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/sony.html to
find notebooks with similar hardware.
And for a quick test you can download the LiveCD.

Hallo Gruppe,
Which is not opensuse-mobile-de as most posters seem to assume :-(
(No I don't want to be pedantic, just want to stengthen the international
commmunity; many postings over the last months could easily turn away
users from this mailing list or even openSUSE as a whole.)
My fault. I mixed it up.
eigentlich habe ich keine Probleme, sondern möchte nur mal ausdrücklich
die neue Version 11 loben.
This form of feedback is always welcome :-)
Also Image von der Platte gemacht und ein Update durchgeführt.
Is this a dual boot machine?

If so, is openSUSE reliable when shrinking the Windows Vista partition
which has a HPFS/NTFS filesystem? (Unfortunately, I have to keep
the Windows side of my laptop :-( )
What program did you use to make the disk image?

So, it might be easy now for me to start with openSUSE 11.0
on a SONY VGN-NR21M.
