Dear listmembers, if anyone of you is using a lenovo X60 laptop and would like to: - make FN-F7 switch video output (internal / external / both) I can provide support. If I find the time I will post an article in the linux-laptop wiki. To whom it might concern
maybe you can help me. This is my setup: I have the x60s, opensuse 10.1., fully updated. It is sitting in a docking station (ultrabay-something, I think, there is only one docking station for the x60s). I have two seats (chairs). One is directly in front of the notebook, using the notebook's keyboard and LCD-display, the other one is at some distance, with a seperate 21-inch-CRT, connected to the docking station through a loong VGA-extension cable and with seperate (usb)-keyboard/mouse. I gave up the idea of having a full multiseat-configuration with 2 users logged in at the same time and working on their own, independend desktops, after reading http://blog.chris.tylers.info/index.php?/archives/14-Multiseat-X-Under-X11R6... which basically says that this is not possible with one dual-head card, you would need 2 seperate (pci)-devices for that. A good compromise for me would be that I have the same picture on both monitors (including the login-screen), so I can choose on which seat I want to sit. I found some problems with that: - If I boot with the lid opened then: a) closing the lid switches the external CRT off, even with "ignore lid closing" enabled in yast->system->power management->acpi-setup b) the external CRT is running at 1024x768@60Hz, although I would like to have 1600x1200@100Hz - If I boot with the lid closed then: still only the modelines of the xorg.conf for the LCD are recognized, which somehow means that at least I can 85Hz refresh rate, but still nothing beyond 1024x768. I tried to change the BIOS-setting for "display" from "internal lcd" or "external vga" to "both", buth then I have no picture on the internal LCD at all (?!). So when I read that you made the Fn-F7-switch working I thought of: 2 seperate screens and monitors in the xorg.conf (as proposed at http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Graphics_Media_Accelerator_950 )* + switching between those screens with Fn-F7, maybe already at the login screen. Is this possible? * (I already had this configuration running but it did not work as "clone" but only as "xinerama" which gave me a second desktop on the CRT which is not what I wanted, I want my regular "first" desktop).
