You could have achieved the same with "powersave -f" (always run
at highest speed) or "powersave -l" (always run with lowest speed).
The default (powersave -A) dynamically adjusts cpu speed (if available)
to save battery.
In some cases this seems to interfere with playing sound.

I can verify this...
When sound is playing, I usually got this choppy sound. When switching to
"powersave -f" while sound is playing, the sound is immediatly fine. When I
switch back to "powersave -A" the choppy sound is back again.
