Hi list, In general, it is a good idea to do as little patching of upstream releases as possible. To achieve that, I've been pushing some patches to upstream projects. Below is the status of this. IN PROGRESS PACKAGE PATCH SUBMITTED UPSTREAM STATUS atk glib jpeg mpc zlib mailed to zlib-devel@madler.net, 24-05-2011 jasper mailed to mdadams@ece.uvic.ca, 23-05-2011 gettext https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?33379 glade3 bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=650262 theora, vorbis trac.xiph.org/ticket/1800 partially accepted bzip2 mailed to julian@bzip.org, 08-04-2011 libcroco mailed to thos@src.gnome.org, 02-04-2011 DONE, WAITING FOR UPSTREAM RELEASE poppler patch not needed anymore in git master waiting for 0.18 release DONE, PATCH REMOVED FROM OBS: gdk-pixbuf bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=640394 released 2.24 lcms2 mailed to info@littlecms.com, 03-04-2011 released 2.2 win_iconv code.google.com/p/win-iconv/issues/detail?id=4 (and 3) released 0.0.3 xz mailed to lasse.collin@tukaani.org, 10-05-2011 released 5.0.3 tiff http://bugzilla.maptools.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2307 released 3.9.5 fontconfig patch not needed anymore As you can see, there are already several packages where the patches has been included in an upstream release and could subsequently be removed from the OBS. For the first four packages listed under "IN PROGRESS", the patches have to be evaluated by us whether they should be submitted upstream. If anyone feels able to do this, please provide the info. Fridrich, can you look whether the mpc -noundefined patch is suitable to submit upstream? If so, you can either submit it, or tell me, and I will handle it. https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=mpc-0.9-noundefined.patch&package=mingw32-mpc&project=windows%3Amingw%3Awin32&srcmd5=4ec2907972cdcdf8da720ca00589d6a0 For the other packages listed under "IN PROGRESS", I already determined that the patches should be submitted and made a bug report or emailed the upstream developers. But as you can see, not all projects are responsive. If any of you know how to pull some strings here to get things moving, that would be great. Also, this list is far from comprehensive, it's only the packages I'm interested in. Feel free to add more packages in need of some attention. If the idea takes of, we should make it into a wiki page. Maarten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-mingw+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-mingw+help@opensuse.org
