Jos and I are pleased to announce the list of people who will be
sponsored to attend the openSUSE Marketing Hackfest + SCALE in Los
Angeles, California the week of February 21-27.
Alan Clark
Bruno Friedmann
Manu Gupta
Kostas Koudaras
James Mason
Chuck Payne
Jos Poortvliet
Carlos Ribeiro
Helen South
Izabel Valverde
Bryen Yunashko
Also Stephen Shaw and R Tyler ballance will join us during SCALE
weekend.
PLEASE... if you are in the area and you weren't sponsored to travel,
doesn't mean you can't attend. We want as big an openSUSE presence at
SCALE as we can. Add your name to our page so we know you're coming
and can welcome you.
So what's next?
Keep an eye on http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:11.4_Marketing_Hackfest
and add relevant information as we go along. I will add some useful
information soon about making your stay in Los Angeles more enjoyable.
1. The hackfest - The purpose of the hackfest is to identify where we
are at on various todo's and be prepared for the release of 11.4. We
should be completing as much work as we can, and that means we need to
start moving ahead this week on 11.4 release campaign planning. I will
start a new thread on that in the next day or so.
The more we get ahead before we arrive in Los Angeles, the more we will
be able to accomplish AND enjoy our time there as well.
2. Booth planning - A lot of good ideas have already been floating
around, and I'm hoping we can incorporate as many as we can. However,
please be aware that we need to verify some resources first. This
information should be ready in the next couple of days and we can then
begin a thread discussing the SCALE booth planning. There is much to be
discussed, but I don't want to put the cart in front of the horse just
yet. :-)
3. As many of you have already noticed, there's talk about an openSUSE
Day at SCALE as well. This is also something we need to look at and
verify what resources we will have. Once Chuck gets more information,
he and manu will start a thread to get some discussion going on that as
well.
Later this week, I will write an article on news.o.o telling the world
to come see us in Los Angeles. I would encourage you all to also talk
about it on your blogs. Note that Javier has created a nice Hackfest
banner for us which you can grab from the Hackfest page. Thank you
Javier!
Okay, let's get to work, Folks!
Thanks,
Bryen
