Agreed. I have a few concerns with mailing list and cluttering people's inboxes, so am sometimes hesitant to post. Also, as the archives show up in Google searches, it feels much more public than an IRC discussion (even if that discussion is minuted). But those are minor points. I'm keen to contribute and can't make most of the timings that suit EU/USA members for meetings, so it does seem like the best solution. (Another option is to make better use of the opensuse forums as a space for discussion, or to create a separate discussion forum for groups. I assume that's been considered?) IRC is nice as real time communication and should be used for what it is good, but for regular meetings for people living in different time zones is definitively not a good medium.
