And when you've done your homework, you'll know more than what you need just for the interview. Thus you have more knowledge to help write additional articles beyond just the interview. Like reporting on team activities, as an example.

That's pretty much what I already mentioned in another post on the topic,
evolving from a "pull" to a "push" model, where the teams poke the OWN editors
about potentially interesting content rather than the opposite:

So.. yes, definitely, but it will also take some time before we can come to
that situation, as the teams aren't especially verbose nor taking a lot of
time to "marketise" what they're doing as of now, with the exception of a very
few people. (I'm not throwing any (suse)rocks around, I too am totally guilty
of that)
