Hi HeliosReds and Listmates,
As HeliosReds knows, I'm not a really openSUSE guy. I always use
Ubuntu, and unfortunately now I don't have openSUSE environment
(I have a plan to install M3 in my old laptop, Thinkpad X31, but no
time now).
So my opinion is something different from any other OWN-people,
but I hope it will become a seed of a brainstorming.
2010/3/18 Satoru Matsumoto <helios_reds@xxxxxxx>:
Totally YES. The work is very good source about Linux and openSUSE
world, and it improves my English - Japanese Translation skill.
First, I think Sascha and you, Heliosreds work good as OWN editors.
However, from translator point of view, sometimes I wondered who
will read translated OWN?
OWN has lots of titles and quotes of nice news, interest articles.
I think OWN's position is good guidebook of "informationful" world.
It is very hard to choose good information from the net, but OWN
helps well, it is my feeling... for good English readers.
However, translated OWN should bring non-English readers to
original article in English. It's a little bit higher goal. So quotes
are very important; they should tell the interest of the original
articles. If translated OWN includes such kind of translated quotes
that tell how interest the articles are, more people reads
translated OWN, and our (translator's) motivation will be increase.
I know, it is tough work to editors; not only choosing article from
lots of sources, but also find the part which should be quoted.
I cannot say to pay extra cost to anyone. Now I'm thinking...
sorry.
I have a same timezone with HeliosReds, so if you're OK, I'm also OK.
Sorry the private talk, I have a healthy problem now, so I have to
go to bed early time, so right now current meeting time is too late
to join for me. However, in general, it's okay.
Sorry my poor English and long mail, but I hope it helps activate the
discussion.
Regards,

1) Are you satisfied and having fun with editing/translating Weekly
News? In case the answer is not "Yes", please tell us the reason, if
you can point out.
Totally YES. The work is very good source about Linux and openSUSE

2) Do you have any good ideas, proposals and opinions to make Weekly
News much more interesting and attractive both for readers and
editors/translators? "It would be interesting at least for me, if we
..." is considered a good answer. ;-)

3) Is the meeting time - 14:30 UTC alternate Saturdays - convenient for
you? Over 1 year has passed since we fixed the time, it might be
good chance to reconsider the better time for meetings. Or, if you
think we had better discuss topics on another channel such as
mailinglist, forum, Google Wave, etc., which is unaffected by time,
please tell us your recommendation.
