I always loved receiving those boxes, but I would say that with all these new project openness offering a box to every single contributor would cost lots of money (box plus shipping). Currently there are 369 openSUSE members meaning that all 369 contributed somehow and thus are strong candidates to a free box. Just a matter of doing some math to estimate how much that would cost to Novell/openSUSE. I once received a box with a letter thanking for my effort as a translator signed by Karl and Michl - all letters with original signatures (not printed ones).
