We mostly use castellano in Spain and this term is widely used in Latin 
American as well, whereas the term español is more popular in the US and 
Central America.

If you check some mailing lists like opensuse-es, opensuse-translation-es or 
kde-l10n-es, the wiki, etc., you will see that some people use castellano and 
others use español.
