Issue 53 is out and i've some topics and questions for the next meeting to discuss:
Schedule - I think the longer timeframe is good, but we should release (at least en) on monday night. @Zonker, what do you mean ?
The longer time frame would be better but I agree that we should keep the news quite update. Actually, I enjoy current time frame, because it was my (and all of Indonesian translator) weekend project.
Sorry, it's a question to Zonker, but I take a chance :-)
- The proposals to release the en newsletter as soon as its ready are good, but what about the language-links then ? They are messed-up then. We either have to insert links always when finished (and in all languages ... ooch), or create a page linking to the latest issues for each $LANG. - Thats not optimal IMHO. I'd rather include as much $LANG in the announcements.
I would rather to keep the time frame as on schedule, so, even there is only few translating, we keep the weekly news updated. It's also make us tried to fit with the schedule.
I know, quality is better than keep on schedule but we must also keep the quality by making the weekly news launch on schedule :-)
I agree with Vavai. And as I previously posted, the translated issues are not for the people who can read English with no difficulty. They don't need to wait for completion of translating. So, the Main/en issue should be launched on schedule, without waiting for delayed translations.
Ready Table - What do you think about this: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Translations/Ready#Issue_54 ? - It's easy to understand and WYSIWYG even in the wiki.
It's a good idea, but I suggested to used acronym as header title and make a legend for describe the acronym. Annc as acronym for Announcements, Forum instead of openSUSE forum, Sec Upd for Security update and so on as an example.
Proposals from Vavai and Christian in mind, I gave it a try to make another "ready table" as a material for further discussion on my User talk page. http://en.opensuse.org/User_talk:HeliosReds
I know it's not good-looking because it's too large in width to display in a browser window. But I think it's necessary to add numbers in each column. Otherwise, we will be easily confused where to fill the flags while editing the table, won't we ?
Full / Light - I liked the Hungarian Template and the Idea of an "light" version - if there's not much time or man-power. - Thats ok IMHO, we just need to do some polishing and rules to make it equal across languages.
Light weekly news is a good idea and it's much easy to translate this into blog post. We should encourage people to spread the weekly news around blogosphere, isn't it ?
Indeed. It is better than nothing ! And I hope this alternative will help making it much easier to start translating for untranslated languages.
I've also in mind to rework the main template: some graphics as in the "light" template or perhaps some pics.
Icons and pics are good idea to make the newsletter more visual and attractive. Additionally, how about a logo for the newsletter ? The logo that I imagine is something like the attachment. Note: It's just a draft and not polished yet. ;-)
I propose this template but a bit modified http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Translations/Ready#Issue_54. But instead three flags we could have just X or O as finished or not. -- Piotrek Juzwiak <piotrek.juzwiak@gmail.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
