But Zhe Su, the SCIM author, has fixed the GTK2 binary compatibility issue in the meantime. scim 1.0.1 build against gtk2-2.2.x should now work when used together with gtk2-2.4.x.
Thank you, it seems to work with synaptic now. The only problem, I have now is, it doesn't work in XEmacs any more. If I enter e.g. Chinese, then I don't get the signs, but something like: ä,-°a\233½ Writing in another window then copy pasting to XEmacs works. Also the buffer is in utf8, I checked this. Any idea?
