I found that when viewing a web page with macromedia flash animations CJK text embedded in these animations are still in garbage. I also experience similar problems when viewing a Java applet displaying CJK characters in them. ?????? are shown instead.
Can you give an example URL where you see this?
I guess the flash plugin is an X application, but I'm not sure about that. CJK display seems to fail on nearly all X apps on my system, including xemacs.
XEmacs certainly can display CJK. Can you please describe the problem you have with XEmacs in more detail?
The LC_CTYPE is already zh_TW.Big5 This is the font path from "xset q" and I'm not sure if it would be useful:
Font Path: /opt/kde3/share/fonts/override,/home/khchan2/.kde3/share/fonts/override, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/URW, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/kwintv, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/uni, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/sgi, /home/khchan2/.kde3/share/fonts,/opt/kde3/share/fonts
Looks OK.
