I installed CJK-LyX today, copied the example lyxrc, and enabled GB support that way. The example document looks fine in LyX, but xdvi fails. An excerpt from it's output can be found in the attachement to this mail.
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/arphic/gkai00mp/gkairs*.tfm does exist.
Looks like you don't have the packages
cjk-latex-tfm-arphic-gbsn00lp.rpm and
cjk-latex-tfm-arphic-gkai00mp.rpm installed. To use CJK-LaTeX with the
Arphic fonts for simplified Chinese you need:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/j2/cjk-latex-tfm-arphic-gbsn00lp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/j2/cjk-latex-tfm-arphic-gkai00mp.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/7.3/suse/j2/cjk-latex.rpm
(These are CJK-LaTeX 4.2.0 packages)
Or you can update to the new version of the CJK-LaTeX 4.4.0 packages:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/7.3-i386/cjk-latex-4.4.0_20010731-99.i386.rpm
In this new version I have removed the packages with the .tfm files
and introduced a /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.cjk-latex script instead
which generates them automatically if they are missing or out of date.
I.e. if you use the new version you just have to call SuSEconfig after
installing cjk-latex-4.4.0_20010731-99.i386.rpm. Then the .tfm files
will be created automatically for all fonts which are installed in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype and which have entries in
/etc/ttf2pk/ttfonts.map.
For the Arphic fonts /etc/ttf2pk/ttfonts.map already contains these
entries, i.e. you don't need to do special setup, just run SuSEconfig.
