I have a fully working KDE 4.42 on my computer but for real work my Pentium III sometimes choke. I have used ICEWM but am not quit happy with it. Saw some enthousiastic reports about LXDE so I installed LXDE with the one button install. LXDE is now part of the choices. When I choose LXDE I just get the green Suse and nothing more. Is there some magical key combination to get LXDE going? Am now downloading the life CD so that I may have a first look at LXDE but I really want to start working with the installed program.
is the right-click menu at least working? just to be sure LXDE (openbox) is starting up completely.
then I would have a look if all needed packages from LXDE-repo have been installed. perhaps you can show us the output of
zypper se -sir LXDE-repo (where LXDE-repo is the actual nr., alias or name of your configured repo)
zypper se -sir X11:lxde gave a full list of lxde files. The first thing I did after that was reinstalling LXDE with the 1-click install. Must have had some unexpected bug the first time because now I have a working LXDE system. One thing which I found strange though, in the documents somewhere is mentioned that the preferred upstream branding of lxde would be the opensuse which I choose. The one click install installed the lxde- common-branding-upstream and now it works. If I use LXDE, should I change my signature? ;) ----- Linux User 183145 using a Pentium III , powered by openSUSE 11.2 (i586) Kernel: 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop KDE Development Platform: 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) 20:39pm up 2 days 7:06, 4 users, load average: 1.19, 0.84, 0.77 -- Linux User 183145 using a Pentium III , powered by openSUSE 11.2 (i586) Kernel: 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop KDE Development Platform: 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) 21:15pm up 2 days 7:42, 3 users, load average: 0.96, 0.98, 0.78 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-lxde+help@opensuse.org
