Apparently I got a bad disk, generating all kinds of messages on vtty10 in 13.1 running 3.12.44. It took more than a minute after trying to kill the partitioner[1] process that when started refused to respond to ESC, so I did ps -A on another vtty, then kill -9 the errant process. Killing took more than a minute to accomplish. All 3 disks connected to ICH8, sda & sdb making mdraid, sdc the new I was expecting to partition.
Is this expected?
Yes. I had system locked up for three quarters of hour in the past doing IDE error recovery. Error recovery runs in kernel and process does not react to signal until crossing user/kernel boundary. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
