Hi,
I am running an opensuse 12.3 client on a network with CentOS 5 fileservers
and I have noticed something that worries me.
If I mount an exported directory from a CentOS 5 server
the mount succeed, but after 30-45 seconds on the server this message
appears in /var/log/message:
kernel: nfs4_cb: server <opensuse client ip> not responding, timed out
The mount command is:
mount :/remote_dir /local_dir
The timeout message does not appear if I run the mount command like this:
mount -o nfsvers=3 :/remote_dir /local_dir
But if I add the option nfsvers=3 in /etc/auto.master
and automount the remote directory, the timeout message still appears.
Does anybody have a clue about what is going on?
Should I be worried about the message? Can this affect the server performance
(if there are many of this mount requests)?
Is there a way for the opensuse client using the automounter to not make the
message appear in the server log?
This happens also with opensuse 12.2 if it is updated to a recent kernel.
Can this be considered a regression in newer kernel or could it be a bug
of the CentOS kernel?
