Hi,
I have a Thinkpad T400 where the machine overheats whenever I run openSUSE. The fan speed never increases even though the machine is too hot and shutsdown eventually.
I googled and found http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_control_fan_speed
Bu I could not get the thinkpad_acpi.conf file or the /proc/acpi/ibm/fan file. So what is the way to increase the fan speed in openSUSE ?

Please file a bug report in the kernel. machine overheating because fan not driven properly is a kernel bug and you shouldnt have to do anything in userspace.
Already reported https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810219 But I was looking for a workaround until the bug is fixed. Thanks Sankar
