Now I see in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/i686/ there are kernel-desktop and kernel-pae, but no kernel-default, while in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/i586/ there is only kernel-default. Other than downloading the kernel I want manually and asking zypper to install it, how does a 11.4 user from Kernel:stable get a zypper upgrade from a 32 bit kernel that finds all 4G of RAM (e.g. desktop 3.1.3) instead of only 3.5G of RAM (e.g. default 3.3.2), 'zypper in kernel-desktop-3.3.2-1.1.i686' (which I know does, but is it the right way to go about it)?
If desktop is the kernel of choice, what's the difference between kernel-desktop and kernel-desktop-base? Are they exclusive, or does plain add something to what base already provides, meaning if one wants what plain has that both are needed?
If my CPU supports PAE, do I want PAE kernel instead of desktop for system that is both desktop and web server?
I looked for a wiki page to explain such things (site:opensuse.org kernel stable -forums; site:opensuse.org choose kernel -forums; site:opensuse.org select kernel -forums), but found none.

All my many systems have been running kernel-desktop for quite some
time, but YaST in M2 installation cannot find any such kernel. There are
packages named cloop-kmp-desktop, ipset-kmp-desktop,
omnibook-kmp-desktop& similar found in search, just no kernel-desktop.
Still in M2 the default kernel is kernel-default. Did kernels get
renamed again? I remember some list discussion in recent months, but
nothing about any name changes resolution. Which kernel is the kernel
for normal desktop users now?
They were changed to i686 architecture and our system can't cope with it
as well as kernel maintainers expected I'm afraid.
