I've cleaned this one up just recently, fixed a number of bugs and added pieces required to support a 'seamless boot experience'. Yet I doubt that we will ever be able to get this accepted upstream. Still I'm reluctant to nuke it yet as it has been proven to work well within the boot scenario we use on (open)SUSE - and this even without adding bloat to the initrd image as any alternative splash screen concept do.
