Istvan,

  I was hoping this would be fixed by now. The problem was with the ssh kio. I
too use sftp extensively and it has really sucked over the past year working
around this problem. (at least fish:// does still work). There was an effort
that was working on a complete rewrite of the ssh-kio slave, but I don't know
what the status is there. If anyone else knows, the please let us all know if we
should have something working in the near future. If you have a contact for the
dev working that rewrite, post it or send it privately to Istvan and I so we can
work with him in whatever he needs (testcases, test servers, etc...)

  I sure would like to see sftp up and working again. Sftp in konqueror with
sure spoil you for remote file management versus a pure ssh and rsync approach
from the CLI.

  Istvan, you can check this list archive for the past year or so for my name
and sftp an*d you should find several detailed threads describing the details of
the problem. Last time the issue was brought up, everyone was in favor of going
forward with the rewrite, I just haven't heard anything in the past 6 months or 
so.
