Exit FF and delete *.mfasl from your FF profile directory and try again. If that doesn't do it, try switching off tabs on top in the view menu. If you'd rather FF to look more like it did in v3.x, you might wish to try the extension status-4-evar, which also may make your problem go away. Another possible workaround might be installing MozillaFirefox-branding-upstream.
I didn't see any files with that in the mozilla folder in my home directory. I have it pretty much set to clear everything when it closes tho....and I use NoScript, Flashblock, and oldbar.
What happens if you start it in KDE in safe mode (0 extensions active)? I hope you know exactly what it is you're deleting and how their absence won't cause the problems you're seeing. Did you try installing MozillaFirefox-branding-upstream, which amounts to changing to upstream (default) theme? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
