I have quite a number of systems with various release versions and Factory installed, but the one I keep up 24/7 is running Apache and KDE3 on 11.2. It seems impossible to do zypper lu less frequently than once a day and not see any KDE3 packages available even if installing them each time any are found to be available. It seems as though KDE3 must be being rebuilt continuously for that to happen. Why is this the situation? How often should KDE3 updates be installed? Should logout/login to KDE be performed each time updates are installed? Is there any benefit other than convenience to logging out, doing zypper dup or zypper up, then logging in instead of using the online updater? I try to keep SeaMonkey open for 3 weeks or more at a time. How does this affect the answers? I looked on http://en.opensuse.org/KDE3, but found no answers or pointers thereto. Is there somewhere else anyone here knows about where this has been explained? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
