Hi, Freek !
Yep, I'm coping with "only" 1600 emails a day ... ;)
And there are two major problems:
- filtering doesn't finish all emails, about 10% stay unhandled in inbox
I have read that filtering currently is a problem, but 4.9 solved a number of these problems. I do not use filtering. So I can not give any help here.
- under higher load (lets say 200 mails) there are empty mails generated with filesize 1byte and I don't know if this is just additional junk or if there have been emails destroyed .... ?
- one smaller issue is mysql, after receiving and handling emails first time it produces higher load (about 4-5) for about half an hour whilst kmail gets very very slow.
Do you have Nepomuk indexing your email. Looks like a proper thing to do with so many emails, however as a first step you could disable indexing of your emails. System Settings -> Desktop Search . You might disable all of Nepomuk.
And this is only for a "daily" dose, imagine what will happen next friday evening when I'm back home, when my neat little notebook is trying to get all the emails since last sunday ...
I've already offered my help - if someone can tell me what to do where to look which logs to send, believe me, I'll be the first one who will do that.
But all I heard till now is "upgrade to 4.9X" ... And I did it every time and I'll switch back once again to 4.85
So if you've any idea how to bring me in or what to do or to change, please let me know.
As my own issue I can't understand why emailing is done this way with so much (async?) processess, having three servers akonadi, mysql, nepomuk necessary in background to do that job ?
Do not ask why, but what is working for me? And make that choice. When you give the command "akonadictl restart" in a console with you as user you can watch what it takes to start all these resources managed by Kontact. If you have KMail active you will see that your Folder List will be refreshed. But the output on the console and the amount of time it takes to finish things gives you an indication where you have a problem.
Greets,
Peter
