[opensuse-kde] Removing Dolphin launcher?

Hi Fellow KDErs, I've been trying to remove the Dolphin and Firefox launchers from the bottom toolbar without sucess. Every time after booting I remove them and the next restart/boot they are back again. Is there some way to remove them permanently? Thanks, Tom -- “What we do for ourselves dies with us. [opensuse-kde] context menus & window backgrounds, brief corrupt image

openSUSE 12.1 x86_64, ATI catalyst / fglrx driver 11.12, KDE 4.7.2 I assumed this was just some quirk only affecting myself, but maybe I'll ask if anyone else is seeing this. Whenever I right click to open a context menu, it briefly draws some corrupt garbage looking stuff where the context menu should be. It quickly disappears and the context menu is drawn properly... ? This happens with 'desktop effects' enabled or disabled. KDE 4.9 Beta 1 was released today. This is interesting timing for us, because openSUSE 12.2 is already in version freeze. Without this constraint, we would land the beta in KDE:Distro:Factory and prepare it for the next openSUSE release, but 12.2 will be released with KDE version 4.8.4 (motto: stability and polish, remember?). However, we pride ourselves in providing packages of KDE releases, so I expect that we'll have a KDE:Release:49 repo on 4.9 release day (Thu Aug 2). The question is how to prepare for this release, since we are using KDF already for 12.2 development Do we create KR49 repo in advance and package tarballs there, do we use KUSC snapshots right up until release day, or do we use KDE released tarballs as KUSC sources? This would be my preferred technique, as this provides testing of prerelease milestones, rather than arbitrary snapshots from git. It also does not add additional load to the team or OBS. I don't want to make any extra work for ourselves either - a good 12.2 has to be priority. Neither will we ship 4.9 *somehow* with 12.2, so don't ask :). Gwenview has stopped working :( Not sure when, as I haven't used it for a while. It complains about a missing library: gwenview: error while loading shared libraries: libkdeinit_gwenview.so: cannot open shared object file I cannot find that library on software.opensuse.org/search Any suggestions, please? [opensuse-kde] Removing Zeitgeist support from our Phonon build

Hi all I'd like to remove Zeitgeist support from our Phonon build, because it makes a very long dependency chain that is fragile to build and delays Factory builds. In my opinion this should be done in a separate package as a Phonon plugin, not in the core, and it is of questionable utility to most users anyway. I see Todd, Raymond and Christophe worked on packaging it. Does anyone have very strong objections to removing it? [opensuse-kde] bug 267903: configuration changes made to kdm via kde system settings are not effective

Just encountered the following today, while installing openSUSE-12.2 beta 2: just wanted to get the Red Chenille kdm theme instead of the one delivered with OS-12.2. Went to kde system settings to download and install the theme (that did not work btw, solved that differently), but this had no effect. Went into yast /etc/sysconfig editor window manager changed the setting from openSUSE to Red Chenille, but this had no effect either. Found a 4 year old bug report, with the solution in it: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=267903#c34 Is there someone able to care of this bug? I would think that it should be possible to make read_sysconfig.sh much better, so setting a theme would be effective, or if making it better is not possible, than something else. I notice that kdelibs4 has support for upnp media streaming disabled. This done by a flag saying kdelibs4 is not gplv3 compatible, which blocks the herqq-devel (aka hupnp) dependency needed by KDE for upnp support. I assume this is referring to LGPLv3, the license of the herqq (hupnp) library that is disabled. [opensuse-kde] KDE telepathy: "stable", git, or both?

OBS currently has git snapshots of KDE's telepathy implementation. However, the KDE telepathy project is having official releases now (the most recent is 0.4.0). These are not stable, but are probably less likely than git snapshots to have random breakage. I am wondering if it might be time to switch to the official releases rather than using git snapshots, or perhaps having them in two separate repositories. I have packaged the latest stable release of the KDE and Qt telepathy packages. They build fine (with one package for the telepathy-qt package so it builds with gcc 4.7).
