Hi All
I have recently upgraded to opensuse 12.1 and am using kde 4.7.2. In previous version I could keypress crtl+alt+F1 or any of the function keys to get various console screens. This was helpful if I wanted to take a quick glance at the system messages or if there was a problem with the desktop I could use the keypress combination to switch to a console, investigate and resolve.
Has this been removed by design and is there a way to get back to the former functionality? Perhaps it is just my system, I notice that despite the fact that F2 is listed as a short cut to renaming a file, when I press F2 nothing happens.
My apologies if this has already been discussed. I've just joined this list today.
I had this once and the cause was trivial but hidden. Unknowingly I had disabled the normal function of the Fn keys and enabled the blue function of those keys. So in my case pressing the blue F-mode key resolved the problem. -- fr.gr.
