I had a quick play with Snippets in the composer window (View->Snippets to 
activate) and couldn't find anything *major* wrong with them.  The selection 
is a bit buggy, as you can't right click outside the snippet tree to add a 
snippet, the context menu is always based on the selected item so Add Group... 
is only available when an existing snippet, not another group, is selected.  
But that's small beer compared to the other bugs we found so far.  Reported as 
bko#284302 and bko#284303 though.
