my kde is 4.6.4 (as reported by kmail's help menu), but when i look for kde in yast i see some confusing details -- for kdebase4, in the Installed(Available) column of the versions tab, i see (in red) 4.6.4-10.1(4.6.0-6.6.2), as if 4.6.0 were an upgrade to 4.6.4
all kdebase4 packages show the same kind of downgrade as an upgrade in red
any help tracking down the cause of this weirdness and my url clicking weirdness will be appreciated ---------------snip---------------- (3) following is an extract from 'zypper lr -u' from which i have deleted all repos not enabled, ------------snip-----------------
This is (probably) the source of your "RED" listings. Although you are not showing the dissabled sources so I cannot be sure. I'd give dollars to donughts though, that at some time you used a different (probably one of the unmarked) repository as the source for a KDE upgrade. Right now, if you were in yast and clicked Packages -> All in this list -> Update if newer... the "Blue" listings would be marked for upgrade, but nothing would happen for the "Red" packages. This is because there is a valid upgrade path for the "Blue" listings. If you were to click on the checkbox in front (to the left) of a "RED" package, it would change to a mark, indicating an upgrade, but would actually install the lower numbered version, because that is the version from the system default repo. If you select a "Red" package in the upper pane of yast, then select the versions tab in the lower pane, you will see the installed version, and the other available versions, as well as the alias you gave the repo.
i'd still like to know why yast thinks 4.6.0 is an upgrade to 4.6.4
Hopefully that clears things up. If you re-add the repo you used when you upgraded to 4.6.4 then things should look more correct. (I would also take the step of going to that repo listing and clicking the "Switch system packages" link. Some things in yast take a while to intuit, unfortunately, changing them to make things easier/clearer is not nescessarily very easy :-( see ya dh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
