Guess I cannot figure it out on my own. I have had sound working correctly since 11.4 install last March, but it is gone and I have not been able to correct it. Some guidance is necessary.
I removed all pulse*, restarted rcalsasound to no avail. I ran alsaconfig and restarted sound to no avail. I reinstalled pulse to no avail.
There is no sound from kmix -> settings -> audio setup -> test

backend is set to Xine, but VLC and GStreamer were also tried w/o success.
HELP, please.
tks,
I have to admit, Patrick, that I am not very good at interpreting the output such as the one which you provided above but I am guessing that your sound is coming from a chip on-board the mobo. If so, perhaps the chip has now failed? Also, if so, have you tried installing a sound card or trying another sound card if the answer is No? Nothing worse than not having sound :-( . I sincerely hope that you have this hassle resolved soonest.
