Hopefully some of our dedicated KDE3 loyalists are planning to port KDE3 to openSUSE 12.0. If so, also hopefully someone will make a detailed how-to for installation. An iso would even be better, Wish I had the talent to do that stuff. Presently running 11.3 with KDE3. Works great. I also have `11.4 with KDE4 and I hate it. Does a lot of stuff and is really "cool" and glitzy that is wasted on me,but there is a lot of functionality missing that KDE3 has. My Kmail address book is the major show stopper.
In my experience, odd numbered openSUSE releases followed and preceded by even numbered releases are usually inferior at least in part to those that came before and after. 11.3 had immature KMS. 12.x will have systemd. Why don't you just add KDE3 to to your 11.4?
Hi Felix. I'm a little worried about mixing KDE4 &3 in the same os. I've seen some horror stories on these lists when people do that. I don't need any hassle anymore, especially with my sight problem.
Save your worry about unreleased versions until after release. Maybe by next's release Trinity will be ready for it.
I was going to wait a month or so after 12.0 was released. Let the gurus kick it around a little bit. Just thinking ahead re: tjis e-mail/
I just made another KDE3 on 11.4 last night, except there was no KDE4 first, just a minimal X install.
I don't know how to do a minimal x install and then add KDE. Is there a how-to floating around somewhere?
So far I see no differences from KDE3 on 11.2 apparent. -- Thanks for your advice. Always considered carefully.
