openSUSE 11.2 x86_64
I just up'ed to KDE 45 using the 11.2 KDE 45 repos. KDM broke. The login screen says "login failed" and there is no visible controls for entering username or password. Can't really do anything.
I had to init 3, then do a terminal login, then startx. That gets me into KDE at least.
any ideas?
I'm having the same problem, but a different solution: using an other Display-Manager for X11. Personally I'm using lxdm from the LXDE-repo on OBS, but already installed (with X11) is xdm. To change the DM, the most direct way is to edit the file "/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager" in your favorite editor as root the entry line to change is DISPLAYMANAGER="?????" in the lines above this is an explanation about the values, for xdm it's: DISPLAYMANAGER="xdm" afterwards restart the DM via "/etc/init.d/xdm restart" as root, or changeing back to runlevel 5 with "init 5", normally a reboot also works. I hope this gives you a working solution. Cheers, Yamaban out -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
