Actually, ~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf appears to be exactly the
file
I'm looking for. Opening it in an editor shows it to be a text file
containing all my contacts, each entry starting with
BEGIN:VCARD
and ending with
END:VCARD
But Kontact/KAddressbook seems to have forgotten how to open the file
try adding it to your "KDE resources" via KDE systemsettings. you'll
find
these 'resources' under 'personal information' in the first line, if you
view systemsettings in icon view.
Aha! In the Contacts window, some time ago I had hidden the resources
pane, as
I only use one address book and it uses screen space. Sliding it open
again
revealed my Address Book, together with several other choices including
two
entries called Personal Contacts, and five versions of std.vcf. I guess I
must have added those in my attempts to get it working earlier today.
Many thanks for your help.
See http://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook_4.4 for more details, following
the links within that page if necessary.
Thanks. That's a useful resource (pun intended).
