Hi Anne,

rcnetwork restart
as root, should restart the network.
Alternatively you can check in yast in network settings if the network is
really setup to work with nm
Be sure that the plasmoid is loaded.

Now back to the initial problem it seems to me that is more a problem of
drivers rather than the ability of nm to use your wireless.
