[opensuse-kde] kmaill does't change fonts..messed up folder list

I'm using kde 4.2.4 and kmail 1.22.4...just installed in a new maching. I
imported all my old email, no problem; BUT from the get go I can't change the
size of message list fonts, or an list except the folder list. THEN in the
process of thry to get the folder columns to all show, the folder list
disappeared to be found after a search in <drafts> but with no names, just
small square icons>
