Yes everything is installed. It isn't that I can't make the DVD play. I can, 
by other round-a-bout methods. Very strange that one method will work but the 
simplest not. eg: Just one example: When the vlc menu comes up after 
inserting the DVD, if I click the "Play with VLC" icon, I get the failure 
message, if instead when the menu comes up and I click the "Do Nothing" menu, 
or course nothing happens. Now a DVD icon appears on the Desktop. If then I 
click on the "Play video DVD with VLC" and the VLC menu comes up and I click 
on "Play" it fails, same as with the original menu. If instead I go to the 
VLC menu and click on "Media"  and select "DVD"and then "Play" the app will 
start and play the video. Very strange. There are many methods of starting it 
by working through menus. Just not the simplest one.

Yep, But didn't start out that way. Thanks for sticking with me. Something 
very strange happening here.
