However, some sort of backtrace is provided with the current packages in Factory. Krash dialog does not say, "no debugging symbols found". Apparently this does not generate a useful backtrace. See, https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465921
I can't answer your actual question, but I want to point out that this specific backtrace was not completely useless (although it wasn't completely helpful either). What makes backtraces useless are those lines with just "??", since then it just has to be guessed where the place is. The point however is that backtraces alone are not everything, and just a backtrace without debuginfo packages can be more useful than another backtrace with debuginfo if the first bugreport is e.g. reproducible or simple and the second one is not. Backtraces full of ??'s are almost always useless, but it's eventually up to the developer to decide if a backtrace is helpful or not. -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 972 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
