[opensuse-kde] kdesu unable to login

I'm running openSUSE 11.1, with kde 4.1, and I can't seem to get kdesu to get
my root password right. I can login via su or su -l or from a terminal just
fine,
but kdesu always says incorrect password and doesn't allow me to run it. Which
makes installing software a real drag!
Oh, and I've tried the hacks mentioned on the web for getting kdesu to use sudo
and not require login at all, but that doesn't help. And I don't mind typing in
my root password (that worked fine under 11.0).
Help!
