Hello,

on my system only the "Updates" are functional :(, the other Updates are
only with "zypper dup" or YaST2 installable ?

Is this correct, ore is this problem only on my system ?

I configured the Applet to see all Updates.

Yes, I saw the same problem when I installed openSUSE 11.1. I installed
kde4-kupdateapplet-zypp to see if the ZYpp backend was better, but the
updater applet still only allowed me to select PackageKit.
It seems there are two bugs: one in kupdateapplet that doesn't detects
the ZYpp backend and a second one that could be in kupdateapplet, in
kde4-kupdateapplet-packagekit, in the ZYpp backend of PackageKit or in
PackageKit itself... that only update *patches* are detected, no
"packages".

I must admit I just removed the update applet and never reported the
bug, shame on me. So, if isn't already reported, you should report
them.

There is no zypp backend, now that is PackageKit.

The fact is that for GNOME, we used PackageKit already for 11.0. The zypper
backend was used in KDE only, because this applet is openSUSE-specific. Right
after release of 11.0, we switched the default backend for kupdateapplet to
PackageKit.

But the whole point is that PackageKit seems to be future of the trivial
package management on Linux (it's goal clearly states it does not want to
become another Synaptic/YaST packagemanager/....). Thus, we will also actively
look into KPackageKit to be a replacement for kupdateapplet.
