I'm using KDE4 unstable (4.1.63). Before anyone feels a need for a disclaimer, I realize the risks of running the unstable version. That said, I'm just looking for a clue about how to narrow down the problem in a better way than the one I can think of. The keys of my keyboard that are mapped become unresponsive some time during the loading of KDE4 and only KDE4. The last time I used that environment without the problem, I installed a couple of rpms from the unstable "extra gear" repository. Since then, I've removed them all and that hasn't made a difference. Those were the only changes I made. (And the ones I installed didn't require any other packages.) My other users do not experience this problem. I tried backing up my plasmarc and plasma-appletsrc files and starting with fresh plasma, but that didn't stop the problem. I could go through and do the same with each of the files in my config directory (or some variation thereof), but I'm looking for something simpler. The funny thing is that it's only my mapped keys. I know this because on my keyboard, there's a key called F Lock that works like Num Lock but for other keys and has its own little light. That little light turns on and off as I press the F Lock key, but I cannot get the other lights to change their state and I can't, of course, type anything.
