somebody is up for writing some script or utility to convert kmail3 to kmail4
fair enough, but I'd rather have a working kdepim4 and have to set it up anew
then having a buggy one which can use the kde3 settings.
Especially since kmail3 within kde4 works perfectly, so "I'm not going to
switch to kde4 because I use kmail3" is not valid IMO.

And who is upstream? Believe me, this is one of the things that will
keep me from switching to kde4. This setup works, no reason to change
it, and it's been easy up until now to upgrade. Even when the switch to
kontact happened, I didn't have a problem. A simple copy over and all
was well.
