you please be so kind and specify what package is responsible for that
audio volume OSD behavior or if you like a lack of it?

I did already, but only to the list. No private copy. I still don't know
if a private copy is appreciated by the devs?!
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2008-03/msg00130.html
Thus I summarize:
Yes it is reproducible. Every time I boot the machine.
1. Booting
2. Loging into KDE by the means of KDM.
3. Audio Volume OSD do not react to the keyboard's multimedia keys or
wheels I have. Only the kmix adjuster reacts to the keys (Der kleine
Balken für den Hauptkanal am Kmixer)
4. Loging out of kde into KDM
5. Loging in again into KDE
5. Audio Volume OSD works
6. Rebooting the machine
7. Loging into KDE
8. Audio Volume OSD does not work
9. Loging out etc
10 and so on.
When I boot up and login into gnome for a one user then logout and login
into kde but for for a different user, the Audio Volume OSD wont appear.
Thus I conclude, that I have to be at least one time in kde and relogin
to make Audio Volume OSD appear. Btw, AFAIK it can't be a non-standard
user settings issue, because a new created user account shows exactly
the same problems. A user switch within kde itself, however, force the
OSD to appear.
My system is:
openSUSE 10.3 x86_64
KDE:KDE3 buildservice
Both fully updated as of current release on ftp.gwdg.de.
ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_10.3/
The latest release of KDE 3.5.8 plus *the one* package patched by Dirk
worked out for me. The next update provided KDE 3.5.9 was broken again
and the following updates also provided no solution to the OSD problem.
If further information needed, I'll be glad to provide it.
Cheers
Pete

Am I missing something? What does kdeaccessibility3 have to do with OSD?

And could you answer Dirk's questions?
