[opensuse-kde] Plasma crashes on log-in with latest kde4.0.64+ packages

Hi all,
I got and installed the Suse 10.3 live CD with kde 4.01 packages.
Then I changed the three relevant KDE repositories in Yast to KDE UNSTABLE,
and switched off the old repositories. I left the basis repositories on 10.3
(so no FACTORY)
After updating all packages, I got a working installation of KDE4.0.64
(there was only one conflict: kde fourinline, which I did not install)
There is one problem: plasma crashes immediately when the desktop is started
after I login.
Applications work, but I cannot start plasma.
I have a feeling that this somehow has to do with my switch to the
repositories, and that it should be working.
I also posted to the kde bug database using the wizard, perhaps this
was not the good thing to do since it might be a Suse-related problem?
Anyhow, thanks for any insights.
Question:
To what extend are the developers interested in my experiences with the KDE4.1
pre packages? I guess it is not interesting to post bug reports since this is
a development release?
John
ps. When I start plasma from the command line I get the following messages:
john linux:~> plasma
Plasma crashed, attempting to automatically recover
KCrash: Application 'plasma' crashing...
sock_file=/home/john/.kde/socket-linux/kdeinit4__0
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
plasma(5448): Communication problem with "plasma" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not
receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "
john linux:~> plasma(5452): Communication problem with "plasma" , it probably
crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not
receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "
Perhaps the problem is caused by my update from standard kde4.0 pakages to the
packages from the UNSTABLE repository?
