not really, you get the xinerama configuration (the compat layer over randr
1.2).
see above :) I tend to think that I should remove this patch, but I haven't
had time yet to test what exactly would be broken.

anymore. Instead I get a message like "your X server uses xrandr >= 1.2
which has no configuration options yet" ...
Why that ?

When I compile/install kdebase/kcontrol/randr from current KDE svn (3.5
branch), I get again the usual randr possibilities like changing
resolution etc.
