I just had the same thing - after i updated from the 10.3 repositories. Plasma
crashed after login and the icon were again duplicated.

I logged into KDE3 then - deleted the .kde4 folder and logged into KDE4 again
and now it seems to be ok again.

Helas now it crashed again, desktop gone, only apps on different
desktops, were accesible via ctrl+Fkeys.
It crashed after starting FF from the desktop icon.
Just logged in few minutes..
There were many icons overlapping eachother...
