How do I export it as an ical file? The export menu offers
me Bookmark, CSV, vCard (2.1 and 3.0), LDIF and export
to mobile phone.

I made that test with an vCard export. The file seems to be written
as utf-8 but guessed as iso8859-15. When I change the encoding
to utf-8 in kate it is displayed correctly (and kate seems to remember
that). However, kaddressbook still seems to assume some iso-encoding.
