Quite strange,
I did some experiments with contacts... So try export as some ical file and
try rung
file export.ical

Open it using kate or some similar "smart" program and look if you see correct
imlauf. It will be fine if you look what encoding kate guessed.

Hello everyone,

I got a problem copying contacts from one addressbook to another.
The german umlauts are lost in this process, regardless if I use
the clipboard or explicitly save an contact as vcf and import it in
the other addressbook.

I am running openSUSE 10.2, KDE 3.5.8. It seems to work
ok with both a 10.3 test installation and with a Debian based
installation (this one on another machine).

Other infos:
env | grep -i lang

LANG=de_DE.UTF-8

uname -rv

2.6.18.8-0.7-default #1 SMP Tue Oct 2 17:21:08 UTC 2007

Does anyone have a hint for me?

Regards,
Andreas
